The Reluctant Mermaid

One way to kill time while waiting for a third grader to get off the bus

The second little improvement in my studio space was this mutha-trucker:
the switchplate.

It's almost as if whoever kept turning on the light made sure they rubbed filth on their fingers extra hard first... seriously!

Trace the outline of the switchplate onto paper that you heart

glue that paper right over all that funk- that's right internets, you heard me- don't bother cleaning the funk first... it actually, um... adds, um grit for the glue to stick to. Ya- that's right... it's scientifically proven that paper will stick better to tar-like finger grub!

when it's a little tacky, rub the edges with a rubber eraser (as opposed to a metal eraser? duh- you know what I'm trying to say... it helps the paper stick to the rounded edges

turn it over and cut out the holes for the switches and the screw holes (hee hee... I said "screw hole"!!!)

Modge Podge that badass into a glossy state of being

Wham bam thank you ma'am... we have achieved super coolness in the studio. Just in time to hear the ear splitting screech of school bus tires dropping the biggest urchin off...
