The Reluctant Mermaid

one woman unwilling to swim in the same direction as the others

8/13/08

This is what it looks like:

When you grow to develop a seriously hilarious sense of humor and impeccable comedic timing... such as requesting that your photo be taken with the this fine lady

When your Grandfather finally declares you old enough and wise enough for him to share his coveted seats behind home plate for the Boston Red Sox Game, tonight.

When your other Grampa and your sister want to remind you that however old or young; you can ALWAYS be goofy

and finally, this is what it looks like when you are EIGHT years old (yesterday) and I see how much more mature you are, and even though it hurts a little when you pull away for a hug and kiss, I understand that sometimes eight year olds need space. And even though you are eight and you can spend six hours straight building a new Bionicle Vehicle and memorizing Pokemon card facts and reading entire chapter books in just a few days... you STILL need me to make you breakfast and pick out your clothes and dry you off from your shower and tuck you in, and kiss your head, and tell you I love you.... those things never have an age limit. Happy eighth Birthday Sage
