The Reluctant Mermaid

one woman unwilling to swim in the same direction as the others

What's that movie....

With Jim Carrey where he wants to forget that woman (Kate Winslet) and so he undergoes that "forgetting" process? Well, there are some situations in my life where that would come in REALLY handy. For instance:
*seeing the name (and agent photo) of an old (first love) boyfriend on a Chicago real estate site and wanting badly to email him
*that MARRIED Brazilian chef who lived in the studio apartment next to my studio apartment in Somerville when I was just a wee babe of 19 years old
*Pretty much all the lame stupid things I did in middle to high school
*the time my nose-ring had to be pried out by an emergency room doctor, with the super-judgemental, "what in the world made you pierce your nose in the first place" nurse holding me down (hey lady, I didn't mention your choice of BLINDING hair color did I?)
*thinking that taking mind altering substances was "expanding" my mind (when really, reading The Big Red Barn a billion times with the patience of a saint is much more "challenging and intellectual"- I see that SO clearly now)

I'm just having one of those days where thinking of my past, my "wouldda, shouldda, couldda's" is getting me nowhere but melancholy and a pounding heart... and I either need to get some super-selective amnesia so's I don't get myself into trouble or I need a instantaneous sense of humor about all these things so's I don't take them so seriously.

Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind.

I love that movie!! Check out the Science of Sleep, it's by the same director and just as trippy.

**hugs** I have those wish I didn't do that days all the time!
